t=\i{}Amblyjoppa proteus\i0{} is a common
parasite of the Elephant Hawk (\i{}Deilephila
elpenor\i0{}). The afflicted moth larva supports
a single ichneumon to maturity, pupates, and is
finally consumed by the parasite. The relatively
large fly emerges from the pupa instead of the
moth the following season. The imagines are
depicted here approximately to scale.
